Black Dreams

Picture this: two bedraggled, yet beaming, best friends in bed using a tea cup saucer as an ashtray. Here's their story.

"...I said to a friend of mine, 'I want to be in a band with her.'"

"I was staying in this flat, below the flat that he lived in and I'd be asleep on the couch and I could hear him playing guitar through the ceiling"

Icon: Kate Moennig

Courtesy of Pret-A-Porter Prostitute I now know of the actress Kate Moennig. Her hair seems to always be a bit off in the most appropriate way and we see eye to eye in the realm of fashion. Go shopping with her to find out her androgynous style tips.

You're Boring Baby When Your Sane

Watch the Kills get all trash and glamour in Cheap and Cheerful.

Check out that bass line and try not to dance.

X-Girl

Its a shame that X-Girl closed up shop on US soil before I knew about it (Now its only available in Japan). Pioneered by Kim Gordon, the line looks like something a chick in the crowd of a Sonic Youth gig would rock. There are some genious pieces: loose jeans with a matching vest for a mock-overall look, mesh 3/4 sleeve cardigan, long military coat. I'd rock the quirky-cute military shirt-all with tights anyday. Then there are the subversive chick must-haves like a grey scoop neck sweatshirt, loose, straight leg jeans as well as tapered and cut-off's with a studded hem. And you can't pass up the military jacket that looks like a heart break parting steal, not a gift. You can pull it all together with a tee that declares "Free Your Mind."

Band of Outsiders: Boy

How many of you have longingly looked at men's clothing? How many of you wear it anyway? How many of you have shelled out extra money to downsize fabulous boys clothes that you couldn't live without? Don't you wish you could just throw it on (off the rack) and go? Look no further for Band of Outsiders has answered our shrill call for sharp, masculine tailoring fit for the female form. Boy, their Spring/Summer '08 collection, has many of my dream boy's basic clothes. This is especially exciting since I recently went to Target and found that all the skinny boys got to the David Bowie collection before me. (Those skinny black jeans with the lightning bolts on the back pockets would have totally fit me!) But since I am the type of person who struggles with clean cut looks, that bedraggled rocker thing would most definitly be intact. This means little boy blazer + ripped and patched jeans, tailored button up + tank top with frayed edges. Of course fabric scrap neck adornments are also required. And as usual, boots are a given. Lately I've taken to wearing anything I can whipe my hands on when wayward coffee drips ensue. Oh, whats a dirty hippie at heart to do?

Iconic Again: Alison Mosshart

Alison Mosshart reigns as the 2007 Pretty In Black Icon. I, much like the rest of you, can't get enough of her. Here I share with you my favorite articles about Alison. In the America article she tells the tale of her journey to rock. In Harper's Bazaar she talks fashion and her grandmother's jewelry boxes. I've also included my favorite images of her from around the net. Enjoy.
PS
You may have to save the articles and enlarge them or get a magnifying glass. Sorry!
